Design of a Compact, Planar Triplexer Covering DC to 9 GHz and Implemented on Low-Cost Softboard (Room 203)

This paper presents a uni-planar microstrip triplexer implemented on softboard. The triplexer consists of Chebyshev band-pass sections implemented using microstrip interdigital (High-band: 6 - 9 GHz), quasi-lumped (mid-band: 1.5 - 4.5 GHz) and quasi-lumped (low-band: 0 - 200 MHz) sections. The primary motivation is to reduce the number of RF/microwave connectors and cables needed to transfer multi-band signals between modules. The triplexer was implemented on 8-mil RO4003C PCB. Passband losses are limited to ~ 2-3 dB while adjacent band rejection is better than 30 dB. This triplexer design can be incorporated as part of a standard microstrip design flow. The triplexer was completely designed, simulated and laid-out using AWR Microwave Office design suite.
