RF-Lambda is an industry leader in the design and development of RF solid state power amplifiers. Due to the demanding requirements for both high power and wide band operation this leads to a unique set of challenges. New and improved microprocessor and FPGA technology now provides the opportunity to tackle these issues using advanced digital solutions. We have developed an integrated digital system which has been implemented in many of our PA products. Our customers benefit from having a complete stand-alone plug and play solution to significantly reduce development time, improve reliability and overall value. Here are the issues we have addressed: 1. GaN amplifier bias point drift compensation. 2. Amplifier protection from over-heating, poor VSWR, overdrive...etc. 3. Power combining element phase adjustment. 4. Timing management. 5. Calibration based adjustment. 6. Labview S/W interface to increase production efficiency. 7. Convenient user interface. Recently, we developed a customer driven wideband beam forming system using building blocks including LNAs, PAs, phase shifters, switches and antennas. The system requires extremely high calibration accuracy with multiple data points over frequency and temperature. We are further developing our digital solution to meet these challenging requirements.
