PCB Design for Low-Cost EMC Compliance (Room Exhibit Hall A)

17 Oct 18
3:45 PM - 4:15 PM
Digital and analog engineers must adhere to international and national regulations regarding electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) such as FCC, EN/CE, VCCI, Mil-Std-461. This talk presents PCB-level design techniques that can be applied to reduce both directions of electromagnetic interference (EMI)--the emissions from and susceptibility to--in order to achieve EMC while improving the internal EMI/crosstalk by building Faraday cages for 2/4/6/8/10/12/14/16/18/20 layer configurations. Topics also include grounding & shielding, bypass & decoupling capacitors placement and ESD protection. This approach will get the project closer to "right the first time" by minimizing the number of R&D and PCB iterations to shorten the time to market.
