Of Bulldozers and Plows: An Overview of Generational Leadership Development (Room S320GH)

One of the most important facets of our industry is our people. After all, they keep us safe, deliver experiences, create memories, and make us “fun.” However, the immediacy of keeping the business running can frequently distract us from the big picture of developing a legacy of leadership that can sustain our people-oriented cultures. This happens to the largest organizations, the smallest destination, and everything in between. Fortunately, there are some simple principles that can be applied to refocus our organizations on what matters most—our people. These principles come from the humblest of learning environments—American farms and ranches. We will discuss concepts that are investment independent so the largest multinational and the smallest family entertainment center can immediately apply them to create their own legacy of leadership.

Outline: Through a combination of personal experience, academic research, and industry-leading best practices; Noble will explain the tendency to focus on what is in front of us, instead of developing what is behind us. He will then introduce simple and applicable principles supported by Pericles, Peter Drucker, and Jeff Mirich that can refocus any organization or individual on building and sustaining leaders for the future.
