Edition 2 of the IEC 61400-12-1 Power Performance Measurement standard has been officially released as of March 3rd, 2017. However, even before the new standard became official, our clients began asking us to evaluate implementation of the new standard and what it means for their projects. This presentation will clarify which measurement configurations are allowed within Edition 2 (and which are not), how these new configurations change the definition of wind speed, and how this can affect contracts and commercial concerns regarding warranty provisions. A flowchart is presented to help attendees understand which measurement configurations and which wind speed definitions will be used depending on the characteristics of the site and the decisions made in the measurement campaign design. At the end of the presentation, attendees will have a better understanding of the options allowed under Edition 2 and how it will affect their projects.
