Operation Protection: Minimizing Exposures in Toxicology (Room 114)

The world we live in today has the overwhelming task of monitoring environmental toxicity from many sources, and the responsibility in a global effort to educate ourselves - and the world around us. To protect the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, and to contribute in a humanitarian approach to support the outcomes of health status and longevity for all. There are many governmental organizations and environmental consortiums consistently monitoring the effects of toxic materials we are exposed to with great efforts to create awareness as to the risks from predatory exposures. These exposures include various forms of chemicals and compounds, multiple types of radiation, airborne particulates, vapors, gases, water toxicity and other substances foreign to the human body including chemicals found in everyday products that we use. It is no secret that the effects of pollution and toxic materials have impacted the world in many ways – science and nature have demonstrated such.

The various effects of toxic materials involving the human body include symptomology including degenerative conditions and systemic manifestations ranging from minor conditions to cancer.  The skin as the largest eliminative of organ of the body functions both a protective mechanism and penetrant route for toxic materials.  Manifestations of toxic material in the body may reside physically in protein bound materials in the body, and may present symptoms such as hair loss, scaling skin, itching, hyperpigmentation and more.

This presentation will explore some of the most important aspects of exposure to chemicals and other forms of toxic materials that affect health and what measures of prevention we can take to offer protection. Special focus will be placed on the primary aspects of toxicity and detoxification measures for body and the skin.
