206 - How Safety Professionals Influence Decision-Makers "NEW" (Room 371D-F)

20 Oct 18
8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
The decision-making process is defined as the option to have a choice among alternative courses of action. In this session, we’ll discuss how safety professionals influence leaders to continuously improve organizational performance regarding occupational safety and health. The safety professional’s role is transforming from a technical and compliance-based manager to an influential safety leader. To be effective, the OSH professional must be able to advise stakeholders and influence decision-makers on matters impacting the organization’s occupational safety and health management system. This research-based presentation will focus on how experts define competencies, qualities, characteristics and traits of an influential leader in the OSH profession.
