In recent years, unmanned aircraft systems – commonly referred to as drones – have been incorporated into many markets, enhancing safety, accuracy and visibility. But, UAS technology also has introduced a variety of new safety risks in three areas: operator safety, terrestrial safety and airspace/air traffic. This session will provide overviews of FAA regulation; UAS safety research programs; and potential impacts on people, animals and property. We’ll discuss best practices and industry standards for safe and efficient UAS operations.
