Human performance solutions have received more attention in recent years, as human error – which continues to be at the center of incident investigations – is seen by many as a final hurdle in the pursuit of zero incidents. This session introduces a new way of looking at human performance on the job – one that would have us rethink the very nature of human error and reshape the tools for preventing it. Adopting this new perspective requires a break from longstanding tradition and natural impulses, but doing so might just provide new solutions for this enduring challenge.
