100 - Here Are the Keys, Now Drive: Steps to Success for New Safety Leaders "JSE" (Room 352A)

You’re new to a company or safety manager/leader role – and the day you walk in the door someone tosses you the keys and expects you to know where you’ll be driving the organization. This interactive session – presented from the perspective of two generations of safety professionals (generation X and millennial) – will discuss steps that new safety leaders can take to help take their safety processes and careers to the next level. We’ll discuss potential hurdles that new leaders face and share ways to overcome them. Topics include perceived lack of experience, dealing with a multigenerational workforce, overcoming barriers created by previous professionals and generating stakeholder involvement. The presenters will highlight lessons learned from their experiences both on the industry and consultation sides of the EHS profession.
