Total Worker Health focuses on the safety and health of employees, as well as health promotion, to reduce injury and illness and advance overall well-being. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines TWH as “a strategy integrating occupational safety and health protection with health promotion to prevent worker injury and illness.” A 2016 report from CDC states that, in 2014, 3 million nonfatal injuries and illnesses occurred and 4,649 workers died from work-related illness. Leaders need to begin moving toward TWH by advancing the level of education and care offered to employees both at work and outside the work setting. This presentation introduces the concept of TWH and key resources to support its development and implementation.
