Unlike most artistic mediums, such as visual arts or music, the understanding of scent is not taught to schoolchildren. As such, most people around the world do not know what a perfumer is, and most perfumers must seek out their own olfactory inspirations. Symrise perfumers Emilie Copperman and Dave Apel bring us into their world of creativity, focusing specifically on travel as a muse they both employ regularly. The perfumers will discuss how their work on the Symrise "Olfactive Travel Portfolio," a project that brought a team of photographers, journalists and perfumers together to explore the world through scent, dimensionalized their creative process in an entirely new way. The discussion will be moderated by Mathieu Chévara, art director and co-publisher of Nez, the olfactory magazine.
