Developing Non-Alcoholic Fragrances (Room Euterpe Meeting Room - Level 3)

06 Jun 18
12:30 PM - 1:00 PM

This presentation introduces hydrocarbon solvents from renewable botanical sources as alternative tools for the creation of innovative fragrance materials and perfumes. Plant-based hydrocarbons such as coconut, palm, or rapeseed alkanes (INCI) have recently become available on the cosmetic ingredient market, where they are welcome as petrochemical-free emollients and natural alternatives to silicones. These high-purity liquids adhere to international standards for natural origin, environmental and toxicological safety, and sustainability.

In the fragrance industry, these new materials can replace traditional extraction solvents for the production of all-natural concretes and absolutes. Its most interesting application, however, is the creation of alcohol-free perfume compositions with unique fragrance profiles, application characteristics and trans-cultural customer appeal. This opens pathways to new products straddling the line between fragrance and skin care.
