Track Two (DODIN Operations), Session 1: "TCM N&S Requirements: The Common Operating Environment" (Room Estes A)

To conduct Multi-Domain Battle in a highly contested environment, future ground combat forces require mission command networks that are robust and self-healing, enable expeditionary mission command and reach, provide access and information at the point of need for operations, and are interoperable with joint, multinational, and inter-organizational partners.

The ability for our leaders to stay inside the decision cycles of adversaries requires the right information at the right place at the right time and in the right format to understand, visualize, describe, and assess complex problems.  To accomplish this, the Army is developing a Common Operating Environment (COE) consisting of six Computing Environments aligned with Army operational environments.  Each Computing Environment consists of transport networks running information services in support of mission applications.

This session covers key capabilities necessary for enabling the COE.  These capabilities are network transport convergence, wireless command posts, key management infrastructure (KMI), the Army Department of Defense Information Network (DoDIN) Services Infrastructure (ADSI), and Unified Network Operations (UNO).

Together these capabilities provide a unifying ability to design, plan, configure, install, operate, and maintain the information network necessary for the Army to fight and win multi-domain battles in highly contested environments.
