Sound Design and Programming: An Introductory STEAM Course (Room Booth 1100)

Sound Design and Programming pairs music theory and computer programming by introducing students to foundational computer coding concepts through an accessible vehicle, music. Create musical instruments from everyday materials while exploring the challenges of developing a common language. With this knowledge of musical notation, students use Scratch programming to create an interactive project with a partner, using MaKeyMaKeys and conductive materials. This workshop will highlight creativity and collaboration by using Project Based Learning, and familiarize participants with this introductory STEAM course. Sound Design and Programming requires no prior knowledge and is a great stepping stone to other STEAM courses, such as Coding, Computer Music, Computer Science and Audio Engineering.
