Coding is a skill that needs to be introduced and practiced. As elementary educators, we want to know how can coding skills be taught in a responsible developmental sequence for our young learners. How can we leverage the fact that students view coding as “play?” Do teachers need to be coding experts to provide opportunities for their students to learn to code? This workshop will focus on a developmentally based practical approach to elementary coding. Coding, like all technology, must be integrated into the curriculum…not be an add-on. We will provide multiple ideas for incorporating coding into subject areas with hands on and digital resources you can use in the classroom.
