Tracks: Future of EdTech Educator

The last 10 years has seen an explosion in simple, inexpensive microcontroller boards that can be programmed and built into projects by non-engineers. These boards allow students to build projects that can move, light up, react to the environment, record data and communicate with other devices. The software tools needed to program these boards have also advanced, and there are options that are easy for beginners to quickly get projects to do what they want. In this workshop, you will learn how to install the programming tools, modify existing code and write your own code to control Adafruit's Circuit Playground Arduino compatible boards. These $20 boards have three-color LEDs, temperature and light sensors, buttons, and even a speaker built in, so they are a great starter platform for Arduino programming. You will walk away with the confidence to use these and other Arduino tools in your classes.
