Tracks: Future of EdTech Educator

Concept maps have proven to be an effective strategy to promote authentic student learning in all content areas and grade levels. Concept maps, also known as semantic maps, mind maps, spider maps, etc. can also serve as an effective instructional strategy for both individuals and groups to demonstrate the depth and breadth of student learning in face-2-face, blended, and online learning settings. In particular, middle-level instructional settings appear to benefit most in the implementation of technology-based concept mapping strategies. These classrooms, by nature of the integration and synthesis provide an outstanding opportunity to enhance learning through the use of technology-based concept mapping. In this session, participants will engage with two (2) free interactive, online, concept mapping tools, and gain meaningful experiences in qualitative and quantitative data collection, effective assessment, and research-based teaching strategies related to the use of technology-based concept maps to promote effective teaching and enhance student learning.
