Tracks: Future of EdTech Information Technology

As schools rush to implement one-to-one programs, charging cables are often overlooked and, if not properly provided for, can trip up a successful implementation, regardless of the specific learning device. Duval County Public Schools recently implemented one-to-one and came face-to-face with big questions: How do you manage all of the devices in a school district of 128,000 students? How can central IT provide charging services on a consistent basis across a district with 197 schools? In this session, Jim Culbert, Executive Director of Information Technology, will explain DCPS's decision to support the initiative with Digital Charging Lockers -- one bay for each device -- and how his team executed this strategy, resulting in a virtual "vending machine" for learning devices.
