Many districts are looking at starting their own digital badge (micro-credential) program. School IT leaders must often step in to ensure a successful launch because of behind-the-badge technologies. This BYOD workshop explores these technologies through the lens of Open Badges. Nationally recognized facilitator Noah Geisel is a leader in the Open Badges movement and will be joined by Nate Otto of Concentric Sky, a chief architect of the Open Badge Specification. These three experts will provide an overview of the technical framework and guide you through an exploration of the recommended practices for selecting the right technology and creating, supporting and sustaining a successful Open Badge program. You will leave with a set of practical, open source tools and resources and, if interested, can earn an open digital badge by creating an implementation plan!
