National Workers’ Compensation and Disability 2017

Diversity & Inclusion’s Impact on Workers’ Compensation & Disability Strategies (Room South Pacific D)

Changing U.S. population demographics mean workers now exhibit more differences in age, cultural background, gender, religion, sexual orientation and physical capabilities. Diverse backgrounds and life experiences can cause employees to have varying communication needs and preferences, approach medical care and treatment options differently, and perceive recovery and return-to-work initiatives in their own way. Janice Van Allen and Azurely Kerr will discuss strategies for managing diversity’s impact on workforce hiring and training practices, communication strategies, application of technology, and how organizations manage their workers’ compensation and disability programs.
