As the second largest employer in California, with 18 locations statewide and more than 150,000 staff and faculty members, the University of California (UC) operates on the scale of a global organization. It is continually challenged to provide the tools and support for leaders to effectively align UC’s human capital with organizational objectives. The Systemwide Talent Management team collaborates with HR, Talent Acquisition and L&D at each location to equip more than 46,000 managers with information, resources and tools needed to engage and develop their teams at a local level with “global” support. This also includes establishing an Integrated Talent Management approach, as well as a focus on the role of L&D. Terry Barton will share how UC is better supporting enterprise-wide collaboration efforts while maintaining the consistency needed to meet development objectives that drive organizational capability.
