HR Technology® Conference & Exposition 2017

Take That for Data! Reflections on Analytics, AI and the Devaluing of HR Pros (Room Marcello 4502)

Ever since NBA coach David Fizdale exploded, “Take that for Data!” in a recent playoff post-game press conference, the phrase has become quite popular for HR managers. HR leaders have begun to take note of how analytic and data plays are often incomplete and the imperfect proxies for what is really going on within their organization. For HR leaders, a better understanding of the limitations of data, as well as when to emphasize the “human” part of Human Resources, is needed to accurately assess needs, drive success and impact business outcomes moving forward. Kris Dunn will lead a team of HR, Technology and Analytic gurus in evaluating where data and analytics can fall short within the Human Capital practice. They’ll also define how to create clear lines of accountability related to the “What do we do now?” question. Lastly, they will evaluate when data shows a problem or opportunity, and what to do when your HR team seems incapable of complementing data observations with the required organizational influences to get things done.
