Tracks: Communication & Patient Compliance

In today’s economy patients are looking for long-term, predictable results when making decisions on treatment options. Dental patients have become more than simply a patient, they are also a consumer. Tooth loss and replacement pose both physical and emotional effects on patients. According to the American College of Prosthodontists over 178 million Americans are missing at least one tooth. Understanding indications for treatment and effectively communicating benefits is essential for dental consumers to make an informed decision. The registered dental hygienist spends multiple hours annually with patients faced with the choice of tooth replacement. Early detection is key to managing expectations and critical in delivering predictable outcomes. Dental hygienists are poised to be ambassadors in implant dentistry. Collaboration among the entire dental team strengthens the knowledge of case selection, case presentation and ultimately case acceptance. This session identifies the true impact of the interdisciplinary relationship between the dental hygienist, dental assistant, administrative team, restorative dentist and specialist.
