While a proper succession plan is a challenge in most industries, hydro as a more traditional/conventional industry faces a bigger challenge, particularly as we enter the technology age. Even with proper planning, a potential gap remains as the new workforce works “differently” – being more technology-driven. The new generation finds it hard to connect to the old analog controls and PLC-based systems, making the already challenging transition more difficult. Another challenge is the management and analysis of O&M data where a gap exists between the retiring workforce and the employee to be trained. This panel will focus on proper planning of knowledge transfer and also address these new-age challenges in our traditional industry.
