Pipeline Energy Expo 2018

Pipeline Optimization: Key Opportunities for Smart Technologies (Room Conference Hall)

Tracks: Operations

In this session, we’ll discuss four ways industrial IoT devices and other technologies can help cut costs, ease compliance and enhance safety across pipeline applications. 1. Data collection points in pipeline operations are endless: drive train, pumps, compressors, temperatures, pressures, flow rates, gas chromatographs and more – the issue isn’t finding the data, it’s figuring out how to best aggregate and use 'big data' to optimize your business. 2. Energy is the largest operating cost for pipeline companies. Anything that can be done to reduce energy usage while maintaining throughput directly impacts the bottom line. 3. Predictive monitoring allows pipeline operators to identify signs of upcoming issues prior to their occurrence, reducing or eliminating the financial and environmental impact. 4. Switching from time-based monitoring to condition-based monitoring can result in a dramatic drop in routine work for field technicians, as well as a reduction in costs.
