Griffey's presentation will highlight genetic yield improvements made in SRW wheat since the 1970's using traditional breeding, marker assisted selection, and doubled haploid methods. It will also speculate on potential future yield gains that may be achieved upon obtaining a clearer understanding of genetic diversity in wheat for yield and the capability to enhance wheat yields via allele based breeding to improve combining ability and hybrid vigor.
