To be effective, safety professionals must be able to advise stakeholders and influence the people making decisions on matters affecting workplace safety. This research-based session will explore how safety professionals influence decision-makers and will introduce the practice of adaptive leadership – which distinguishes technical problems from adaptive challenges. We’ll discuss the most critical competencies of an influential safety professional, and how the tools and tactics of adaptive leadership can be applied to occupational health and safety management.
