ACT Expo 2017

NACFE Trucking Efficiency Workshop (Room 204)

01 May 17
12:30 PM - 3:30 PM

Tracks: Medium- & Heavy-Duty Commercial Vehicles

This workshop will provide an intimate forum to explore the North American Council on Freight Efficiency’s (NACFE) work encouraging the use of advanced technologies to improve fuel economy for Class-8 tractor trailers. With approximately 1.8 million Class 8 trucks operating in North America, 28 billion gallons of diesel are consumed each year in this industry. Working to reduce the volume of fuel consumed by this sector is a top priority of truckers that pay these fuel bills, as well as policy makers who are looking to reduce our nation’s dependence on imported energy sources. Small group discussions will uncover the benefits and challenges of adopting various technologies, including 6×2 axles, idle reduction devices, electronic engine settings, and automated transmissions.
