This presentation will provide several real life examples of unproper settings, intrumentation problems, unproper control algorithm, maintenance issues that significantly impacted the life time of Wind turbines. More than 10 years of operational analysis of Wind turbines has enabled the author to identify several events that needs to be properly taken into account by the operators and owners of Wind farms. For example, it has been clearly demonstrated that some anemoter types are inducing a 5X increase of yawing occurrence. Other examples have shown an increase vibration level, improper Wind turbine location, improper management of curtailed Wind sectors, unoptimized storm shutdown management. Several other examples that impact the lifetime of wind turbines will be provided during this presentation.
