Wind Project O&M and Safety Conference

Pre-Con: Slinging and Rigging Training (Room Sunset IV - V)

Two of the more important reasons why you should enroll and attend the Sling & Rigging Training offered by AWEA as a pre-conference activity:
1) Gravity ALWAYS works.
2) Dropped loads KILL, INJURE and/or DESTROY property.

Generally a chain of mistakes combine to form a cumulative outcome known as an accident. The interactive training presented on (insert date here) will explore many of the ingredients necessary for successful load handling activities and will also offer various alternatives to mitigate detrimental contributory factors.

The Sling and Rigging training offered by AWEA and presented by Lift-It Manufacturing consists of interactive classroom instruction in basic to intermediate rigging activities and addresses two primary areas of information: sling use and inspection.

Sling use topics include instruction on: sling designs and components on a generic level, with an emphasis upon proper application. Load weight, sling angle, tension and center of gravity calculations for symmetrical loads are presented in an interactive format. Rigging practices, sling protection and environmental considerations are also covered as well as three accidents scenarios with not only the root causes, but more importantly preventative measures which could assist you in not duplicating the same errors.

Sling inspection is clarified and greatly simplified as systems, techniques and removal from service criteria are explored. Participants are trained to perform the frequent (pre-use) inspection from a perspective that rigging is either acceptable or must be removed from service and not used for any purpose.

Participants are tested and receive a certificate issued by Lifting Equipment and Engineers Association (LEEA) a prestigious international organization that provides training and also accredited the Sling & Rigging training you will attend.

In addition, participants will receive many valuable deliverables including: 500 Page Rigging Resource Guide, Rigger's Handbook, Rigger Reference Card and a Sling Angle Protractor.

The program will be presented by Michael Gelskey, Sr. and Mike Gelskey, Jr., who guarantee this will be one of, if not the best sling and rigging training you have experienced.  Seperate registration fee required.
