To pursue an aggressive interior attack, a firefighter must be able to read the environment using benchmarks and quantifiable knowledge to determine the best course of action. Within the fire service, suppression provides the backbone for job success. Suppression is the product of several factors; most important are fire behavior and the use of hose in the context of the fire. The focus is on understanding the capacity of our tools, competency, and understanding our environment. This class teaches the skills, the skill sets, the context of skill application, and a methodology with regard to fire attack and handline management.
