Click here to register for a Utility University course.

The purpose of this course is to better understand business reasons for using new technologies such as cloud computing, develop enterprise architecture skills for emerging technologies including Machine Learning, Cloud, IoT, and learning how to select most appropriate architectures for advanced applications.

Attendees will learn:

  • Recap business, data, application and technology architecture views
  • Examine how to integrate solution architectures into utility enterprise architectures
  • Examine the role of ADMS/DERMS/cloud data analytics applications
  • Examine the challenges of incorporating emerging technologies (cloud applications, IoT devices e.g. customer-owned smart inverters, and expanded field area networks)
  • Lessons learned from grid modernization and utility of the future projects
  • Develop enterprise level application, communications, and operational cybersecurity architecture based on reference models

Knowledge, skills and/or capabilities that attendees should acquire through this course:  Upon completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Define how evolving business goals and visions can be translated into enterprise architecture
  • Understand the impact of emerging technologies (cloud computing, IoT, communicating DERs, updated NERC CIP requirements on architecture) in developing Enterprise Architectures to support Utility of the Future and Grid Modernization initiatives
  • Develop enterprise architecture views for advanced systems based on attendees’ current roles and projects
