The course will provide information electric utilities need to plan, integrate and commission systems. The course covers key terms and definitions and basic and advanced functionality of the latest advanced distribution management systems (ADMS) and outage management systems (OMS); OMS and ADMS architecture alternatives (e.g., OMS/ADMS shared model approach); advantages of combined OMS/ADMS architecture; distributed energy resource management system (DERMS) integration; system integration guidelines and challenges; and current vendor offerings and procurement/implementation/transition guidelines. The course also covers guidelines and suggestions for developing the business case for ADMS implementation. Course attendees receive a copy of a spreadsheet developed by the course instructors that can be used to create a high-level business case for ADMS implementation.
