Technical Panel: Embedded Systems Security Postures in the Cloud for the Tactical Environment (Room 317)

The movement to the cloud has forced commonly single purposed embedded systems to become internet worked, while allowing more complex data analysis to be done off device.  tactical operations pose the issue of dynamic and potently resource constrained physical environment.  This panel will discuss the threats and security postures of embedded systems as they operate in a tactical cloud environment.

Most embedded systems have a limited size, weight, and power.  However they are faced with additional challenges such as:  Network Access, Physical Access, Reverse Engineering, Legacy Systems, Patch Update Process, Custom Protocols, Supply Chain/Counterfeit Parts, Custom Libraries, Cascading Faults, No Secure Configuration, Design Mistakes, Human Error

The panel will discuss these common threats as well as current regulations, common mitigations, and how to best utilize these technologies for secure operation in a dynamic tactical environment.
