Tutorial: Radar and Communications Coexistence (Room 303)

With both the selloff of spectrum and ever-expanding wireless use and applications, the coexistence of radar with communication systems is becoming increasingly important. Furthermore, the expansion of systems from stove-piped operation to networked systems are required to realize improvements in C2ISR. We will begin with a general overview of the operation of radar and communication systems, highlighting their differences, and discuss the general coexistence problem. This will be followed by a survey of interference mitigation /coexistence techniques illustrated by examples of effectiveness.
