Wearable technologies have exponentially grown in the past years and have changed the way that athletes, first responders, military, and the general public gain intelligence about their health and environment. Wearable technology allows for the collection and analysis of large amounts of data as the wearer conducts daily activities. Captured data can include critical information about the user, such as biometric or health data, or the user's surrounding environment, such as hazardous gases or identified combatant personnel in the warzone through facial recognition. This burgeoning field introduces the opportunity for numerous innovative solutions for occupational safety, access control, healthcare, personal fitness, and warfighting. The success of many of these innovations will depend on how the field addresses challenges such as security, privacy regulations, and reliability. This session will explore current exciting advancements in this field as well as looking ahead to what may be possible in the future.
