Status of Department of Homeland Security Rapid DNA Applications (Room :Room 18-19)

Presentation Abstract: The Department of Homeland Security, Science and Technology Directorate (S&T), working with the DoD and DOJ, has been funding the Rapid DNA program since 2008. The goal of the DHS S&T program is to develop a rapid, low-cost, DNA-based family relationship (kinship) verification to improve immigration efficiency for legal kinship applicants, reduce kinship fraud, provide for family reunifications and conduct DNA watch list checks. In the past year, DHS S&T has conducted additional laboratory and field assessments of the kinship capability and this presentation will focus on results of those evaluations.
