ENT practices around the country often have a difficult time trying to determine whether their waiver and collection practices fully comply with the law. This session will discuss the legalities of “professional courtesy” and the risks your practice might face when writing off co-payments and deductibles owed by other physicians, their families and your staff. We will also examine your practice's potential liability exposure when billing “insurance only” for patients covered by government and private payer programs. Finally, the session will discuss when and how your practice may offer free or discounted care to patients, and when it is appropriate to waive and/or write-off patient co-payments.
