2017 BOMA International Annual Conference & Expo

Building Re-Tuning: Low Cost, Data Driven Approach to Guaranteed Savings (Room 207A)

On average, commercial buildings account for almost 20% of the energy consumed in the United States, and studies have shown that 10-30% of the energy used in commercial buildings is wasted because of improper and inefficient operations.  If the goal is to optimize the operation of building systems and minimize operating costs, almost every commercial building has room for improvement – even those buildings with sophisticated energy management and control systems.  Most buildings are not properly commissioned, operated, or maintained – which leads to operational inefficiencies, reduced equipment life cycles, and—ultimately—higher energy costs.

In conjunction with industry partners – including the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) and the US Department of Energy, BOMA International has developed a Building Re-Tuning™ Training (BRT) program to help our members identify energy savings opportunities and implement improvements.

This session offers an overview of the BRT program as well as a “flavor” of the curriculum – taught by the subject matter experts who helped develop and refine the program for delivery by BOMA International.
