Jonathan Stockman, DVN, DACVN, post-doctoral clinical veterinary nutritionist at Colorado State University, reveals results of a study on dry beans as an uncommon protein and fiber source with unique benefits. The dietary weight loss study recruited 30 obese adult companion dogs and used metabolomics to provide a non-targeted approach to identify biomarkers for bean intake. This may in turn offer insights regarding the impact of bean intake on changes in metabolism that might have additional implications for general health and disease.
