Avoiding Injuries to Employees: Putting the Focus on Safety in the Workplace (Room 503)

26 Aug 16
8:30 AM - 9:30 AM

Tracks: Educational Workshops, Retail Services Clinic

According to OSHA, every day, more than 12 workers die on the job – over 4,500 a year. And, every year, more than 4.1 million workers suffer a serious job-related injury or illness.  Injury prevention programs offer the foundation for changes in the way employers identify and control hazards, leading to a significantly improved workplace and safe environment for staff and customers. Adoption of an injury prevention program will result in workers and customers suffering fewer injuries, illnesses and fatalities. In addition, employers will improve their compliance with existing regulations, and will experience many of the financial benefits of a safer workplace, including significant reductions in workers' compensation premiums.

Attendees will:

  • Learn the importance of injury prevention programs for small businesses

  • Learn common employee and customer insurance claims and how to avoid them

  • Discover how to assess risks to build a safer workplace and retail environment for your customers

  • Learn how to design a safety plan and stick to it

  • Learn how to execute your safety plan and conduct employee training and reviews to ensure all employees understand the continual focus on safety

  • Receive information on how to assess and improve your safety plan
