What makes a headshot different than any other portrait type? Intention. We will explore what this means and how to use it in every aspect of capturing an image that portrays confidence in your subject. A headshot is designed to be the calling card, the face of one who is seeking something such as a new job, part, client, audience, reader or mate. Anyone can use a good headshot. Thanks to the shift from print to fast-paced online needs, ranging from websites to LinkedIn, there's an unlimited bread-and-butter client base that could turn into other specialty portrait needs. In a preliminary discussion, Lori Patrick shares insights on finding clients, offers a posing demo and discusses client intention—leading to pose, expression, crop, usage, delivery and more. Afterwards, practice in pairs producing headshots of each other, with Patrick available to coach. You may capture some worthy of your portfolio if the subject consents. Come make new friends while learning the headshot.
