CEU: There has been an increasing discussion regarding the visual appearance of polyiso insulation from Roofing Contractors, specifically around knit-lines, which are more prevalent with the growth of thin, full-adhered single ply membranes. There are not always clear accept/reject criteria for Contractors. Contractors may be put in a difficult position with owners, Consultants and other roof inspectors when knit-lines or other surface inconsistencies are visible on a finished roof, and the Contractor needs to explain why they should not be a significant concern. This presentation will review why knit lines are present, what is being done to clarify what is or is not acceptable regarding surface inconsistencies, and guidance to help contractors during and after roof installation.
