Shortly after midnight of D-Day, June 6, 1944, in awful weather, 22-year-old Staff Sgt. Thomas Rice and thousands of other Screaming Eagles of the 101st Airborne division parachuted into Normandy as part of Operation Overlord, the largest and most complex military campaign in history. Rice ultimately landed miles from his intended drop zone, where he joined about 50 other Americans, and they battled in Normandy for over a month, during which Rice was twice wounded. From the Normandy campaign Rice went on to the assault on Holland and the Battle of the Bulge, where he was again severely wounded. This is a rare opportunity for a firsthand account of pivotal events in World War II and world history, as Tom Rice shares his recollections of D-Day and beyond.
