San Diego — known for its perfect weather, naval ties, and landmarks like the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park — has a history as incredible as its stunning shoreline. In this illustrated presentation, San Diego historian Richard Crawford recounts significant events from San Diego’s past, such as the great Rainmaker flood of 1916, the famous match race between thoroughbreds Seabiscuit and Ligaroti, the closure of the notorious Stingaree red-light district, and notable visitors to San Diego such as magician Harry Houdini, baseball legend Babe Ruth and aviator Charles Lindbergh. Scores of historical photographs accompany the presentation.
