Combat Air Forces’ (CAF’s) weapon & mission systems reliance on cyber and information technology is only growing. Decisions in the cyberspace domain will & do affect CAF/Air Combat Command’s (ACC’s) warfighters. With so much at stake, CAF leadership is shaping the way the evolving challenges in cyber are tackled at the Department of Defense (DOD) and AF level. CAF offers a different perspective on cyberspace—a weapon systems-centric view—that should drive resourcing, risk management and defense-in-depth decisions. Through Mission Assurance, CAF is working with other DOD/AF communities to meet some of the challenges in cyberspace that affect CAF warfighters. The process is just beginning though, and only by teaming with industry partners can the DOD and the AF posture itself for success.
