Smelting reduction ironmaking technology is an important direction in the development of low-carbon ironmaking technology. The HIsmelt process is the smelting reduction technology that is verified by industrial production, and can completely get rid of coke. The main technical path of the Hismelt process optimization is proposed from several aspects, such as hearth refractory, iron ore preheating, gas dedusting, injection of ore and coal and so on. This is based on the summary of Australia Kwinana plant production practice, combined with the engineering and construction of the first Hismelt project in China. The latest progress of HIsmelt technology in large-scale oxygen smelting, and smelting of V-Ti ore, are introduced.
