This study aims to understand the kinetics of reactions in liquid steel refining. Previously, a FactSage-based macro model was developed that can predict chemical composition of steel, slag and inclusions with time once mass transfer coefficients and flotation rate constants for inclusions were fitted, using experimental data from laboratory-scale induction furnace deoxidation experiments. In the present study, the applicability of this model is being tested on industrial scale for three things: kinetics of steel-slag reaction, flotation rate of inclusions and kinetics of steel-inclusion reactions. Chemical analysis of steel and slag samples would provide rate of steel-slag reactions, while inclusion analysis of these samples would provide flotation rate of inclusions and rate of steel-inclusion reactions.
