Plant Upgrades & New Equipment Developments
ArcelorMittal Gent has been operating a 7-stand hot wide strip mill since 1967, upgraded in three self-contained stages between 2012 and 2016. By the latest upgrade, comprising the installation of two new finishing stands and the modification of two further stands, ArcelorMittal Gent has expanded its portfolio and optimized the rolling process especially for high-strength and multi-phase grades. Production downtimes were kept to an absolute minimum. As a result, the 50-year-old hot rolling line is able to compete with any greenfield hot strip mill.
